Having stayed in the clean and pristine tourist section of Munich for the entirety of the trip until today, I was starting to wonder if this was how all of Germany was. Stepping out into the graffiti and cigarette-covered landscape outside of these areas on the way to the concentration camp quickly doused those notions. [...]

Visiting the concentration camp was very impactful. The story of the place is both surprising and disturbing. It is not something I will forget about anytime soon.

BMW Munich was the first BMW plant in the world and continues to be their flagship assembly plant. Since the city has grown around BMW, they were forced to expand their operations up rather than out. Today started with a visit to a castle. This German castle was large and the gardens were beautiful as you would typically expect. Afterwards we toured BMW. Today we went and walked through the BMW plant in Munich. I found it interesting to hear about how their changing their assembly line to become more efficient and the problems they  face with expanding. Since they are surrounded by residential housing they can not expand outwards only upwards.

The efficiency of the BMW reminded me of one of the reasons why I got into my degree path. All those robots running at top efficiency, tools to make it easier for the workers that were still there, and the consistency of their work that human hands alone could never replicate was phenomenal.

Today, we were able to go on a tour at the BMW car factory and view how they were able to assemble a car. It was interesting having to see how a car was created and to learn on the process of making the parts for the car. After that, we went down to Marienplatz [...]

Touring the BMW plant was very interesting. It was my first time touring a car plant and watching the robots complete complex tasks was very fascinating. The robots looked almost like bugs in the way they operated, one over another. - Max Murray
