We took a boat tour of the Rotterdam ports to get a different view of their scale and function from on the water. Afterward, we visited a rooftop park built on a man-made hill, designed with buildings underneath to maximize urban space and show efficient land use.

The windmills of Kinderdijk highlighted the intelligence of early engineering. The windmills are a remarkable example of how people used technology to manage water and transform uninhabitable land into fertile farmland. It was nice to see how these historic structures that stand as symbols of Dutch engineering.

we went on a food tour and explored how engineering transformed land that was considered “unusable” into functional property’s. The cube houses were a great example of design addressing urban housing needs. It was impressive to see how engineering can solve space challenges and support an ever growing population

Visiting the Olympic Park and seeing the whole park was an amazing example of timeless engineering. The sweeping design and innovative use of materials still make it look modern, even 50 plus years after it was built.

During our tour of the Munich stadium and the Royal Palace, I saw how engineering and architecture evolve over time to meet different needs and aesthetics. The stadium showcased modern structural design and innovation, while the palace had craftsmanship and engineering techniques that were very detailed down to the individual thread.

we explored the city’s public transportation system, its similar to Stuttgart’s but also has its unique layout. A highlight was seeing the Eisbach river surfing spot a good example of engineered water flow that creates a continuous surfable wave in the heart of the city.
