Day 2 – Automobile Factories

I appreciated the opportunity to tour the Mercedes-Benz and Porsche factories today. The level of detail when inspecting and producing the leather upholstery was impressive at Porsche. I was surprised by the lack of automation on both assembly lines, but as explained by both factories, they emphasize a focus on quality that can only be delivered by a human touch. This provided a stark contrast to the Toyota factories I have been to, which emphasize fast production but lower quality standards. Overall, it was an educating day and I am excited to see Munich!
