Today we started the day with an optional trip to The Hague, the capital city of Netherlands. After about a 25 minute metro ride, we arrived. Since The Hague was not bombed during the war, the buildings were older, and canals stretched along the streets. We were basically able to walk right up to the capital building, where their senators and ministers work. We also were able to see the famous painting, girl with a pearl earring, at a nearby museum where the royal family donated their artwork. Later that day, we had a guided bike tour of the harbor. Biking through Rotterdam was pretty crazy, as biking lanes were packed with other bikes and mopeds. It was an extremely windy day, so it was a struggle against the wind, but it was worth it to witness the sheer size of the port. Finally, a few of us ended the day by going to a Feyenoord watch party for a final. The atmosphere was wild, as fans loudly chanted and lit off flares.
