Day 9 – Erasmus University and SS Rotterdam

I had a great time today at the guest lecture at Erasmus University. Since I don’t have a background in supply chain or its history, I enjoyed learning about the Dutch East India’s history and how it helped set a precedent for international trade law. I also found the question of how to maintain stable supply chain routes quite provocative, and I’m still stumped on it.

Afterwards, the tour of the university provided another example of brutalist architecture in Europe. Honestly, I prefer Purdue’s architectural style, especially in some of the new buildings.

My favorite part of the day was touring the SS Rotterdam and eating aboard. I learned a lot about the Netherlands through my conversations with the Erasmus students, and the food was also really good!
