Munich Day 4 – May 16th

Today we went to the Dachau concentration camp and went to lunch with some of the Alumni. Dachau was really brutal to go through, being in the actual spots where bodies were stacked up, and atrocities took place is just very heavy on the heart. It was interesting to learn how Germany evolved their strategy using Dachau and other concentration camps from 1933 to 1945. After lunch, I went to the Munich art museums to try and see some German art before we leave tomorrow. There was a lot of Jesus artwork in there but very different eras and styles. Got to see Rembrant’s take on Jesus’s ressurection and his portrait. A lot of famous art in there and it was amazing to see some of the paintings that went all the way to the ceiling and were massive. The Munich modern art museum was kind of lame, I’m not a huge contemporary fan, but there were some cars and chairs there that were really cool. Really love different, random, stuff being in art museums like chairs. There was an entire room of just random stuff, from some chairs to a bosch hammer drill. Overall today I got to get to know the public transport system and learned more about German art and culture as well as history.
