“Every number is a name, every name is a life.” This powerful phrase was repeated throughout our tour of Dachau Concentration Camp. While we’ve heard the chilling numbers and horrific acts of history in classrooms, walking on the grounds of this place is an experience beyond comprehension. Although I’m not one to believe in ghosts or spirits, I genuinely felt an eerie presence. The most moving part of the tour was walking through the gas chambers, where I learned they were disguised as showers. For a moment, I could almost hear the cries of the countless souls trapped within. I feel this tour is a must-experience for everyone.
