Day 1 – Evan Carter

Today was our first day in Stuttgart, and we started with a short tour of some of the city’s key landmarks, including the town hall, the art museum, Schlossplatz, and several other important areas. We also learned some background about Stuttgart’s history, including its connection to horse breeding and how that history helped shape the city into what it is today.

Being in Germany has also brought some cultural adjustments. One thing I noticed is that Germans seem to interact less with strangers compared to what I am used to. People do not smile as much in passing, and sometimes the staring can feel a little uncomfortable. I also noticed that people are very quiet on the metro, which made me more self-conscious while riding. Overall, it was a good first day, but the culture will definitely take some time to get used to.
