Misty Snyder – The close of an adventure – (May 22)

Our last full day together in the Europe started off with a private tour of the Stadion Feijenoord, commonly known as De Kuip, which has been the home of the Feyenoord’s since 1937. The passion and pride for the team was evident in tour guides presentation and throughout the city. The fan base, often referred to as “Het Legioen” (The Legion), and maintains a fierce rivalry with Ajax, known as “De Klassieker” (The Classic). The rivalry betweeen the two is so intense the away team fans are not allowed to attend the game when they have matches! I like how the stadiums are void of excessive commercialization. It shows respect for the game, players, and the fans. Later, we gathered as a group one last time to share some appetizers and reflect on our journey together.
