The Rotterdam Port tour via boat was a fantastic extenstion to the bike tour we had on Monday. The ports and the people who work in them have always been the heart and soul of Rotterdam.
Learning about how technology is transforming the types of cargo moving through the ports, while reshaping the way the supply chain operations within the port, and how these changes are impacting culture of the Rotterdam community at large has given me a broader perspective. It really drove home how the decisions we make in Supply Chain Management impact more than what we typically measure. They have a ripple effect throughout the communities, affect livelihoods, and play a significant role in the culture of cities like Rotterdam.
