Today I toured both the Mercedes-Benz and Porsche factories. It was very interesting seeing the contrast between the manufacturing styles. While Mercedes follows a much more automated approach, Porsche still has a lot more hand manufacturing involved. One similarity I saw that did surprise me was how both lines will make a car to completion even if there is an error and will fix it post production. This has me looking forward to our Audi visit soon.
