Day 7 – Last Day in Rotterdam

Today was our last day in Rotterdam sadly, but we had a lot of time to explore the parts of the city we hadn’t seen before. The first thing we did was go on a bike tour of the port of Rotterdam. It was really interesting to hear about how the port had been built and expanded over the years, and it was cool to hear how much of an impact the port has on the city itself as well as the rest of the world. After the bike tour we didn’t have anything else planned so I used that time to go back to the Markthal and see the different vendors that I hadn’t seen before. I also walked around the outdoor market with so many different tents of vendors, it was almost a little overwhelming. I also got the chance to look inside the cubed houses. I had always seen pictures of the houses before, but it was even better seeing them in person. I even had the opportunity to go inside one of the houses and see what it was like. I can’t imagine living in a space like that, as cool as it looks, so much of the space inside is unusable, and there would be people walking around all the time taking pictures of where I live. Next me and a few classmates rode motorized bikes around the rest of the city we hadn’t seen before. Although navigating all of the city traffic was a little stressful at times, it was really fun to get to explore on our own. Lastly, I ended the whole trip with a dinner at Napoli, the food was delicious, and it was a great last meal to celebrate a fantastic week in Europe! Today was my favorite day on the trip, and a perfect bookend to an amazing spring break trip!
