Stuttgart is an interesting city. It obviously has a lot of historical architecture, buildings, churches, even a palace, but it’s also a city with a lot of modern buildings interspersed in with the same ones that have been there since before the turn of the century before last. It’s not an unclean city, but there are strange places where the wildlife seems to be slowly claiming some of the buildings. Another thing to note is it seems that large sections of the city are currently under construction, so the “old vs. new” juxtaposition shows through all the more. It’s people are friendly, shockingly so, I had to ask it’s residents for advice on getting around more than once, and they all obliged with very helpful information. I wonder how often they deal with tourists. Their subway system is extremely well integrated, and it was fairly easy to understand. Smoking here seems a lot more acceptable and common than it is in the United States now. I didn’t realize that the Germans drive on the right side of the road, like the US, so that was a welcome surprise. Overall, I think I like this city, there’s a lot of charm to it, and it’s fairly easy to get around when compared to some major US cities. I think I’ll always prefer driving, though.
This picture was one of the most standout parts for me personally. This church was very tall (it seems like every town I passed had a church with a large steeple), and the front window depicts Jesus, flanked by His 12 Apostles, 6 on each side.
