Today we visited the Dachau concentration camp, it was very informative and a reminder of Germany’s dark past. It was upsetting to see the horrors done to the people being persecuted. It was also another reminder to be grateful for the life I have and to not allow let something like this happen again in light of recent political events. It was also interesting to note that Germans aren’t as patriotic as other countries because of their past history, our tour guide said he does not feel guilt personally because he was not responsible for the war crimes committed but he does feel shame from them. Following the visit we had time to explore more of Munich. Bayern Munich had an away game today and we ended up at a fan decorated pub watching the game where Bayern won 5-2! To end the trip off we had a group dinner where we were able to try more German food and successfully conclude our week in Germany. It was an exceptional week that went by too fast and a great learning experience.
