Today was quite eventful and filled with lots of opportunities to advance my own knowledge of smart manufacturing as well as Industry 4.0. A small portion of our group started our day with a trip to the Mercedes Benz Museum and it was enriching to learn the complete history of car manufacturing in Stuttgart as well as the significance and impact of the company throughout the world. Before today, I never truly considered the contributions that this city has made on the industry as a whole throughout the years. We then got the opportunity to be guests at the Porsche factory. Seeing the care and effort that they put into their vehicles was special and they had many elements of a Digital Twin built into their systems, such as live monitoring of the status of the vehicle as well as bidirectional communication between the machines and the workers.
