Our second day of this study abroad lived up to the expectation with our trip to the Mercedes Benz factory. In the modules prior to this trip, this was the facility that I was most excited to see with relation to Industry 4.0 and Smart Factory. Seeing the Technology Center be 99.3% operated by machines was surreal and something that I wouldn’t believe would be possible unless I saw it with my own eyes. Final assembly was also very intriguing. Seeing the speed and integration of human workers and AVGs was really neat and different from anything that I’ve ever seen before. Compared to some more traditional car manufacturing facilities in the US, this facility is the most advanced from a technological standpoint that I’ve ever seen.
