Today, we started by going to Erasmus University just outside of Rotterdam, where we had another collaborative university session with some of their students. After listening to a lecture about the oceans and international policies, we shared our thoughts about whether certain institutions are adequate enough to accommodate peaceful world trade. After that, we enjoyed lunch while talking with the honors program students, and it was cool to hear about their studies and stories of where they came from. Next, we took a train to The Hague, which serves as the capital city of the Netherlands. We toured the Mauritshuis art museum, and saw some famous works and had the opportunity to explore the area around the Parliament Building, or Binnehof, and it was cool to hear about their government system. Lastly, we finished with a tour of the SS Rotterdam, a famous retired ocean liner for the Holland America Line, and got to have dinner at their restaurant with more honors students. I really liked getting to talk with the students about their different backgrounds and compare our culture to theirs.
