Today was obviously a heavy day with us visiting Dachau. Our tour guide was a very experienced historian with interesting insights into global politics and how the events of ww2 shaped German and European politics. It was interesting to hear about how they have handled the “reparations” for the victims. Furthermore, the tour guide gave us an insight into events in Europe that our news hasn’t covered like more reparations for companies responsible for construction and operation of work camps. It was fascinating to hear local opinions on such a heavy subject that is even slightly taboo in the states. It was really an eye opening day to see in person the tragedies we heard about in school.
