Rotterdam Day 1, May 11th

Today was mostly a travel day, but I got to interact with German culture through the airports and some of the people I talked to while traveling. From what I was told, Germany take their rules very seriously and will abide by them, whether they seem harsh to others, specifically Americans in lines at the Airport. They are very serious and only like to tell people something one time and want things to be the exact way they should be according to cultural or environmental rules (at the airport). It was also a culture shock to be from the Midwest and give everyone some kind of hospitality with a smile or a not and not be reciprocated at all. This makes me like them even more as I appreciate adherence to the way things should be and not letting it slide when it is out of line. I think I will continue to get them more as I stay here for longer, but it definitely is a shock not having someone reciprocate something as simple as a smile when I look at them
